Glasgow Airport Ranked Among Europe’s Fastest Growing Airports

Glasgow airport has been rated among the fastest growing airports in Europe last year. Carrying between 5 and 10 million passengers each year, it is rated fifth in its Group three category.

Glasgow reported a 12.5% growth in passengers last year, including more than a million passengers to their 8.7 million overall, having additional 30 routes last year. The airport has been behind Milan with 18.8%, Gothenburg with 18.1% and Berlin with 16.9% and Porto with 16.7%.

The Managing Director of Glasgow Airport, Amanda McMillan has stated they worked very hard through 2015 to strengthen their path network and it’s been reflected in their passenger development. She is pleased to state it to place as among Europe’s fastest growing airports is an excellent accomplishment as it shows their efforts are paying off.

Airports like Glasgow and also other European airports are well on their way toward equipping Heathrow as the airport. With its continued delays over the next runway, and all the controversy surrounding this, it may lose its place as the number one airport in Europe. This notably with bigger and more modern airports such as individuals in Dubai, and Istanbul, who could fly passengers, and also to more destinations, specifically those from the middle and far east.

Hopefully Heathrow will observe it to delay is not great for its’ future, as well as being toppled by foreign competition, Heathrow will see its passengers dropped to other UK airports. Kudos to Glasgow airport and their continuing expansion, and we expect to see yet another year of expansion from them if things continue as they are.
